He co-founded Coradian, a telecommunications company, in the mid 1970’s. Under Mr. Bruno’s leadership, Coradian sold the first computerized telephone system in the United States. Mr. Bruno was first elected to represent New York’s 43rd State Senate district in 1976. His fellow Republicans in the Senate first elected him Senate Majority Leader and Temporary President Pro Tem in January 1995. Senator Bruno was re-elected as Majority Leader each year since until June 2008, when he chose to step down from his leadership position.
