NCWC seeks an enthusiastic, service-oriented professional to work part-time, primarily evenings and weekends, on a 34-week schedule as part of a team providing reference service and instruction at the Rocky Mount and Goldsboro campuses. This librarian collaborates with others to provide effective reference service to students, faculty, and staff, and to provide instruction in information literacy. This librarian creates instructional guides and tutorials, both print and online, to support the information needs of the North Carolina Wesleyan College community. This is a part-time position on a 34-week work schedule. This librarian works a flexible schedule; approximately 20 hours per week, evenings and weekends from mid-August until May.
- Provides general and specialized reference service in person, by telephone, by e-mail, and online, and participates with other librarians to provide virtual reference statewide through NCKNOWS. Provides one-on-one instruction teaching patrons to use print, media, and electronic resources. Collaborates with other librarians to develop effective reference services.
- Assists in implementing effective programs of instruction in information literacy at the Rocky Mount and Goldsboro campuses. Develops and presents lectures, demonstrations, workshops, and other instructional sessions, both in-person and virtually, to teach the use, understanding, and evaluation of library and other information sources.
- Works with faculty and staff to make students aware of library services, and to encourage use of available resources and services. Helps promote accessibility of library resources through the development of online guides and tutorials.
- Participates in staffing Pearsall Library during evening and weekend hours and performs other duties as assigned by the Director of the Library.
